Computer death imminent

Alrite, well my computer recently has been going tottaly crazy. There are 3 majors problems with it.

  1. When i startup windows, only like half of the things in the system bar actually show. This doesnt happen everytime, and ony used to happen like 1 out of 10, you could just go log off, log back on, and everything would load up. But no it happens everytime. Not too much of a drama, as all the neccary things like norton load up, but things like MSN, and other such dont.

  2. Since installing Norton Internet Security 2006, the proccess ccProxy.exe keep taking up 100% of the system resources. It just happens randomly and the only way to fix it is to restart the computer. Very very annoying that, and i am still talking to Symantec to try and rectify the issue, but too no prevail.

  3. When i turn the computer on, it gets to the select operating system screen. (Which shows Windows XP Home, and System Restore), then normally the screen goes black for a second of 2, then shows the loading windows XP screen. But every so often, this it just frezzes on this black screen, and does nothing. For some reason i had noticed a relation between if my ipod is sitting in the dock, or if it is unplugged. If the ipod is connected is frezzes on startup, and its not, then it loads up fine. (Its a 3rd gen ipod plugged in via firewire, if ur wondering)

Anyway, there a number of numerous problems with this computer and im getting tottaly sick of it. I run regular virus scans, and ad-aware scans, but these problems seem to be getting worse. Im thinking the way to go would be to format and reinstall, but i really dont want to loose all my windows settings etc.

Would someone have any advice about,
A) Rectifying problems with a computer using like really deep diagnostics.
B) Formatting and reinstalling windows XP, with minial losses to setting.
C) Directions on the most inhumane way to destroy a computer… :red: :} (and make it look like an accident ofcourse)

So yeah. This things is really getting on my nerves, so any advice would be grately appreciated. Thanks in advance.

EDIT:
oh yes, i also forgot another thing. When i go to shut down the computer, it comes up with numerous End Program messages, for different programs. The regulars are usally, MCI Command Handler, ccApp.exe, MPWndHooker (whatever that is), and ofcourse Explorer.exe.

So basicly, the computer messes up starting up, when its running, and when it shuts down. Wonder how much money i could get for it in this condition… :}
