Hello, everyone. I’ve been trying to hook my Wii up to my projector. The wii uses a yellow composite video cable and red/white stereo audio cables (RCA?). This is a picture of the end of one of the video extension cables:
My old projector was able to receive this type of input but not my current projector. My current projector only takes 15 pin video input (which is called VGA?). In order to hook my DVD player up to it, we have an adapter that receives the 3 RGB video component cables and has a 15 pin connector on the other side. This is a picture of it:
So in order to hook my Wii up to my projector I either need something that can convert the yellow composite to RGB or that can convert yellow composite to 15 pin.
I already called Radioshack and explained my situation and they said they didn’t have anything like that. I feel like I need to be able to explain my situation better, so I was hoping someone on here might be smart enough to know what I’m looking for.
I’ve looked on the internet for adapters or converters or whatever, and apparently there’s this big box you can get that needs its own power source in order to convert yellow composite to RGB component, but that costs a minimum of a hundred dollars. So I’m imagining the way to go would be to skip the RGB and go straight from yellow composite to 15 pin.
I found this, but I’m worried because there are two cables attached to it. Are you supposed to attach something to each of them? And if not, what happens if you do? How does it know which one to read from?
I’m being cautious and want to get a second opinion because this seems way harder than it should be. Radioshack wasn’t helpful, and niether were the other stores I called. What sort of connector am I looking for?
