Videocam connection

Hi everybody,

Since there is no hardware forum, I’m posting this question here. Also because this is the place where everyone hangs out :stuck_out_tongue:

The situation: I’ve just been on vacation for three weeks with my best friend, and we’ve made a movie there. So now, we want to edit the movie and finish it by adding some sounds from CS and stuff like that. I know this is possible with Windows Movie Maker 2, so that’s what I’m about to use. There might be better programs or whatever, but for our purposes, it’ll do fine.

The problem: Our videocamera (my parents bought it) only has the white and yellow connection plugs (I think they are called RCA jacks… ) Usually, there are three of those, a red plug, a yellow plug and a white plug (like the connection cable of my PS2 has), but for some reason, our camera only has the white and the yellow one. But I’ve seen that other videocamera’s also have the yellow and the white without the red one, so I guess that’s normal. But the question is now: how do I connect those yellow and white plugs to my computer ??

To be clear, here’s an image of those plugs.

lol

you’ll need to have a video card with a TV-in (tv tuner) to be able to connect a camcorder, unless yours connect to usb or some other port…

Ok … so when I buy such a TV tuner, will windows recognize the camera when I connect it ??

I assume so…

don’t take my word for it, this is how i did it with my 5-year-old video camera, newer ones might be connected differently :-\

I hope so … Thanks ahmed

nooo wait!!!
you need a firewire card my lil’ buddy. dont try something like that. thats how i do all my stuff for vids. i dont think it will work the tother way.
