Well, apparently Newegg knows something we don’t. (At least I hope they do.)
I’m still anxiously awaiting these chips, and for those of you who also stayed up late to check Newegg on the 27th, you might remember this promotion, that was posted, then deactivated, and then taken down:

Upon looking at the URL, you might note that it appears to have a date:

Seems like a good bet that Friday we might see these things pop up. Hopefully the whole family will be there, not just the X6800.
