Hey guys. i installed Half-Life and junk to my WinXP machine, that runs fine, but when i downloaded the CS 1.5MOD and i go to play a game, it just shuts down and says send error report. any ideas on what i should do? i really want to play:(

no i know it is. This sucks though (am i allowed to use that word?). Well my buddy is gonna bring me CS Retail 2m so it should be cleared up,i just wanted to play tonight…
simple remedy. go to www.unreal.com and download the UT2003 demo. much better than CS all together:P

CS is much better than any other multiplayer-games!
I mean in UT and all of it’s mods you just run around like a psycho and shoot everything that moves(almost) but in CS you can snipe quielty on the roof of some building without anybody seeing ya. In UT there’s no difference where ya, are everybody sees ya.
and In CS there isn’tjust shooting-,moving skills needed, you must also be smart and clever. If you are in a firefight then you have to know where to go to get the them from behind and you have to know where could they come to get you from behind.
And the best things about cs is that the people there move like in real world. The new game Tactical-Operations which used to be a UT mod is screwed up. The men run like s**t! And they shoot the same way, but in cs it’s all real!
I agree…UT, Quake 3…all bogus games.
They are dwarfed by the intensity of Counter Strike.
I hate games where when you have blasted 30 rounds into someone they run around a corner and grab a friggen health pack…and then frag you.
The relism in CS is unmatched. No Health…and your rewarded with money to buy your weapons…just not going to that samn ■■■■ spot where the RPG is…

In cs you can kill 2 people with 1 bullet! (of course you have to shoot in the head and be the luckiest person in the world but with Arctic Warfare Magnum aka AW/M which mostly kills with one shot it’s not very hard but still you have to be lucky!
I started playing CS about 3 years ago and finished about 1 year ago (with a couple of monthly breaks inbetween). It was a great game but I got bored of it. Now it’s just not fun. Still refined compared to other games, but no fun.

I quit cs because cheaters,campers and the netcode <– I’ve messed around with the netcode a lot but I never got it right!

well, my buddy was going to bring in retail today, but we had a snow day, so i wont get it untill weekend which sucks for me 
Let me give ya some tips about cs! 
–Never aim at the ground! Always aim at the height of the enemy’s head! I never aim at the ground but most people do! That’s why I’m always accused in cheating! (that’s one of the reasons… the 2nd is that I hear around corners [3d sound] but that’s not important here)
–Don’t camp! Campers are lame and you’ll die sooner!
–You can shoot through crates,boxes,thin walls, etc. SO if you see a gun pointing out behind a crate or sth (camper) then shoot through the crate!
–Don’t spray (full-auto shooting) especially with AK-47 and long ranges!
Cheaters, campers & lamers made me quit cs so I’m aiting for Condition Zero!

Tactical Ops is a much better game than counter strike. Unless you play on a friends server with only people you know, you will have a cheater in the game 95% of the time. Plus its not even fun when someone gets that godly sniper rifle and can take out the entire opposing team and not get shot once.
When was the last time you played TO also? In 2.2 the guys ran kinda funny when they strafed but its pretty much been fixed now. Plus there’s never been anything wrong with the shooting unless you don’t like recoil (which is realistic).

maan it aint fixed! They made it worse when they released Tactical Ops, The Game!

I don’t understand the thing about the stupid, lame people who cheat. How is that not a disadvantage that people cheat? It ruins the game when you can’t kill someone because they’re hacking.
Plus many people who use the sniper rifle will use aimbot and maphack so they know where you are and they can shoot you the first time as you hop around the corner. Its just not very fun. And the maps are HORRIBLE in CS. They should at least add one thats not in the desert.

What are you talking about??? I love all the maps in cs! What do you mean by desert??? Only 10 percent of the maps I know are desert!
its the games fault for not releasing patches to stop the cheating. Even if its not the games fault it still ruins the game. I don’t care who’s fault it is if the game is not fun.
I haven’t really played much CS, but the 5 maps I played were ALL desert. Its pretty much that half-life is built on deserty maps (except for the indoor ones).

The quake engine is HORRIBLE. Like bunny hopping, that just ruins the game. Its not fun when I’m running normal speed and some leet guy who spends 23 hours a day 7 days a week playing quake runs by me 5x as fast and shoots me in the head the first time. People overplayed that and pretty much made it so if you aren’t leet, its no fun.
Yo mdipi, make sure that your Half-Life version is v1.1.1.0, and if you downloaded CStrike v1.5, make sure its the MOD and not the Retail Patch, then try it again…
Im running CS with WinXP aswell, no problems here, but make sure you have Half-Life v1.1.1.0 the install the CSv1.5 MOD… If that doesnt help then shrugs Dont know
