I am about to buy a domain name (which is unregistered yet thanks god for my money :beam: ) but I’m a little confused:
- can I just buy a domain name with one company and use another company for the hosting ? Let’s say that www.mlkondahweb.com should be fetching from www.crappyurlname.com/users/folder/mlkondahweb/page.php and if so, can I link my pages like so: www.mlkondahweb.com/page.php or should they point out to the old domain urls (which would mean that the domain I bought was just cheap redirection). I cannot edit .htaccess files (no redirection) nor access the server at root level.
This is of course assuming whoever sells the domain allows for redirection.
I’ve looked around a bit but I get really confused as most sites just display charts and prices and packages but don’t explain the whole deal that well.
If you can shed some light on the matter, I’d be grateful !
