Just got done doing my taxes on TurboTax. I’m a full time student and I pay all my own tuition and I make under $12k a year so that qualifies me for the Hope tax credit, the Lifetime education tax credit, and tuition and fees deduction to alleviate the burden of tuition costs.
Now, do they mail you an extra check with these credits/deductions or do they just use them to lessen taxes that you might owe or taxes that you might get back? Because if it’s the latter, that’s pointless if you make under $12k a year because I wouldn’t owe any taxes anyway.
Anyone have any experience with this?
