Eilsoe - Fonts

Out of curiosity, what fonts do you use for your footers and stuff? And where can you get them?

I’m sure this has been asked before, but I can’t find the thread… :stunned:

I already have it, I put it on my site, download it below:

http://www.macromotive.com/ebay/dalu/bitdust2.ttf

hey dan did u ever do the tut on how you got that effect in your footer?

Ahh, brilliant. Cheers Dan, I owe you one.

Yeah it was some freeware font I found somewhere…

btw thx Dan, I lost mine! :stuck_out_tongue:

Had any more thoughts on a replacement avatar / footer? :q:

whoops, forgot about that one :sure:

hmm… no not really… yet…

w00t i dont have that one yet! thanks dan! i will make new ones when i am at 2k eilsoe wait till 2500 for like a grade unvailing…

mdipi…
I still do not know how u got so many posts we registered on the same day. How do you have so much time to post that many in so short a time…Hold I think my “spam” is ready…:beam:

well i only post in here and random…lol…and phill is just SO contraversial and i have to comment on everyting here and i never really leave…so its not hard…lol…to much time i guess…but man i am not rushing the 2000 mark…ever scince 1000 i have slowed down…

Hey Kit, if you want I can make you up a footer. I am not exactly an artist, but I can do all the flash effect. Just give me the background art if you want me to make one.

www.04.jp.org has some great freeware Photoshop pixel fonts (most don’t work in Flash although there may be some that do).

lol i thought eilsoe was going to make his own new ones! lol.

the one eilsoe used for the buttons here works GREAT in flash…

good shout lostinbeta! thanks for that link! been looking for some decent pixel fonts. btw, when you say they don’t work in flash… are you talking about the automatic anti-aliasing?

Yeah, Flash will anti-alias them because they don’t lie on true pixels.

This causes the holes in o’s, d’s, a’s, etc to be filled and the font to be blurry.

About Dan’s footer- http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx/alpha_fade.asp -I know this has something to do with it (hint- deviant art).

[you should be sufficiently confused by now…]

Unless you are talking about his old one… In that case… No clue.

it’s pretty easy to get around though lostinbeta, you just set your text to 8 pixels or what ever is standard for the particular font and then make it either Dynamic Text, or (for static text) check the ‘Use Device Fonts’ box. Both suitable workarounds. The fonts still appear anti-aliased in Flash, but the output swf will look perfect.

(sorry if you already knew all that)

Device Font will not work. What device font does is switches the font to one of the _sans, _serif, or _typewriter or whatever fonts those are that come with Flash if the user does not have the font installed.

You will need to embed the font outline if your text is dynamic for this to show on machines that don’t have the font installed, and this causes anti-aliasing on it.

So the only way to get clear pixel fonts in Flash are to get Flash pixel fonts. Sometimes you may get lucky with a Photoshop pixel font, but thats only sometimes.

:frowning: ok thanks for the info :frowning:

No problemo, I forget who taught me that Device Font won’t work, but I always thought it did.

Dreams are shot down :frowning:

BTW: Many Photoshop pixel fonts work at 6px while in Flash they have to work at 8px.
