I am quite new to flash, and have a question, ive been through the tutorials and stuff, but how do u make an image or text, fade in and out of a movie???

You would first make an image or object tween about 10 or 20 frames. There is no need to move the image (unless you want to). Once the image or object has been tweened, I would select the object by using the mouse pointer.
From the panel for Effect (you can enable that by right clicking on the object and selecting Panels > Instance) click on the drop down menu and choose the command for Alpha. Move the slider all the way down to the value of 0 for the Alpha percentage. That is all there is to tweening an object in Flash.
