ha ha I tricked you into a boring thread, with a strange thread title.
so… what is your favorite book or series of books?
I’m currently on book three of “Song of fire and ice” series by George R.R. Martin. The genius who brought together the creative “Wild Cards” series. For now I’ll just say that it’s better than the “Lord of the Rings” trillogy. That should stir up a hornets nest.
Probebly my favorite series so far has been Zelazny’s “Amber” books. Superb fantasy/Scifi.
ahhhh… Ender’s Game… Truely one of the greatest books writen. I’m with you there. At the request of a friend of mine, I skipped number 2 in that series, but I did read “Speaker for the dead”.
absolutely brilliant.
As for you Phil. I’m glad you have such a strange sense of humor. Also a good read… though I would never stick it with my favorite fiction.
I dunno what my overall favorite would be (the Lord of the Rings would be WAY up there though… dave: ), but currently I am reading “Dreamweaver” by S. King and it is EXTREAMLY good. I havent read him in a while so getting into his style again is fun - if you;ve never read him (I wonder if there is anyone) you should, at least for his style. His choppy construction and ability to keep several stories going at once still keeps me amazed. After reading most of this current work I also wonder how he sleeps at night with all these f**ked up ideas running around in his head!
did you read any futher into the series?? If not then you should, the other books are WAAAYYYY better. Just read the first one (Fellowship of the Ring - the Hobbit is really the prologue) and you’ll be convinced. If you already have and you pick the hobbit out of all of them - hmmmm, I respect that opinion, but I guess there is a first for everything.

**Ryall,
Its funny because everyone says that. I have read the hobbit at least 6 times and have never read any of the others. **
Well then get off your ***** and read the others!!
Seriously though, if you liked the Hobbit, you’ll love the others even more - simply amazing.
I’ve been reading the whole (almost, waiting for the last book to come out) serie of SF books by ** Peter F. Hamilton** (i think in english it’s called the Naked God, The Reality Dysfunction and something else), I truly was impressed by these books as much as the writing itself, the scientific facts and the amazing imagination of the author… Can’t wait till someone makes a good comic book out of that…
I love just about anything from Terry Pratchet… YOU MUST read, Good Omens… Its the best…
LOTR didnt really go for me, I didn like it that much… its okay.
My fav books:
-Discworld series
-Old Dragon Lance Books… (pre- fifth generation)
-Band of Brothers <-- Read this! ( I am a ww2 addict)
-Actung, Panzers by Hanz Guderian (ww2 again…)
Trilogy called “The Dwarven Nations Trilogy”. Its a fantasy type book like LotR, but I like it a lot more. Instead of 20 pages about why a hobbit likes to smoke a pipe at 7:00, its all events. But any of the books in the DragonLance series are good.

Speaker for the Dead IS number 2. Unless you consider Ender’s Shadow #2…
I’ve looked through a book series by Robert Jordan called “Wheels of Time”, and it seems to be very interesting. When most of the students at school read these giant books while neglecting their own schoolbooks, the book must be something cool
