I know it’s not a big deal - but for me it’s pretty kewl.
I work at a little company called CS Kern based out of Muncie, IN. Many outside of IN don’t know us … but heck, people in Muncie don’t even know CS Kern when I mention where I work…
Anyways, I’m the “Flash” guy here and also a normal Graphic Designer and we used to participate in the design award competition known as the ADDY’s … (see here for explanation of that)…but we stopped because the competition and such wasn’t worth the entry to my boss … which was a let down because when I got hired on, that was the first year we didn’t enter. My boss decided to not enter anything ever again because he wanted to just focus on work and not glory.
Well we are subscribed to GD USA - for those who don’t know what that is - click here. In short, it’s a national magazine published monthly for graphic design professionals to see what others are doing around the nation etc.
So, to try and make a long story short, a couple of the designers here and I banded together and submitted some of our stuff … and we won! Our company brochure, company folder, and company website won! We will be published in the Annual issue that will cover the competition we entered. (see here for what that was) The reason for my excitement is that I did our website - www.cskern.com - and my boss never wanted to have a Flash website…so hopefully with this, he might push Flash a bit more to our salesmen etc. And it’s just nice to get recognized for your work after awhile - especially national recognition.
Anyways, I know it was a lengthy explanation, but I was pretty excited about it. (nothing big happens to us here in good ol’ Muncie, IN)
