Firefox preview is different than IE

Hello Kirupians… I am designing a site for work, and did the layout at home over the weekend. Here’s the problem:

At home, I use Firefox and Dreamweaver. Here at work, I use IE and GoLive CS2. This site is a flat html site. I layed everything out in PS-CS2, sliced in image ready for my tables, and hand-coded around everything else. I have a gradient background that consists of one line (bitmap). The entire body of my site has a drop shadow that I really like over this gradient.

In a nutshell, the site looks great in Firefox, and aweful in IE. The site’s body has a white space around it as if the PNG’s transparency is not supported.

Is there a way to present a site that will look the same in any browser? I think that it really sucks that microsoft cant display a PNG file’s transparency!! I mean, the format has been around for like 10 years!!..right?

And so, I am on the verge of losing the drop shadow, and going .gif the whole way, but before that, I wanted you all to help me brainstorm as to how I can save the effect…

SPANKS!!
