A drawing I did in Fireworks, this is me trying to figure out how to use a pen properly…
looks good. the pen tool can be a pain to get used to…
now, let’s see a yellow feather’d cape…
btw, have you checked out the style called summer2 yet? I think you’ll recognize the area…
Rev
heheheh… nice, good style
it was taken 25 yrs ago on a visit, but you couldn’t tell by any of the buildings… I swear, the canal looks the same today, as it did back then…
Rev
I dont understand, Pen is Under Vector, why is there pixels?
I don’t understand.
please explain, or zip me a .png to look @…
Rev
I mean, I use a pen, which is a vector tool, vectors ,
arent they supposed to be real smooth? not grainy like mine?
well, to show it on the web in an image, it’s gotta be raster’d… that will cause pixels. no way around that.
I’m guessing you had to shrink this a bit for the web… that will cause a jagged edge (less pixels to go the same distance)…
if you print it, I doubt you will see the jaggies…
Rev
Hmm… next time i’l just do it in freehand!
Thx!
It is the same. I think either you aren’t explaining it right, or I am not following …
it is still vector. You can change the line by moving the “handles”… check your stroke to make sure anti-aliasing is set properly, etc.
did you shrink the image after drawing?
Rev
Yeah yeah, it got all the handles and everything
and negative no shrikage occured… uhh :trout:
export it as an .swf
Hmmm…
don’t know then.
maybe something to do with the stroke. try eliminating that, and go from there… 3d-iva is very handy with FW as well… maybe he will poke his head in here later on…
Rev
FW - there are a variety of brushes - I guess you picked the 1-pixel hard one? try going for one of the anti-aliased ones
nice work
actually i think you have anti alias turned off on your pen tool settings. Or have the line set to hard. In prop inspector. Change where it says edge to anti alias. That should solve that.
Oh yeah you dont have to start your drawing over to do this just select your line and change properties.
Negative nothing solves, it I am drawining in anti-alias, 1pix hard,
I am baffled!
I changed it to soft, and it helped a little…
it looks a lot smoother than the first one, nice work.=)
change your fill to soft also
also you can set the stroke to "center on path , “outside path” and “on path” those are at the bottom of the stroke color picker. When you click the color for the stroke look on the bottom there is a drop down…You are almost there
