Flash mob to attempt supercomputing feat News – latest in science and technology | New Scientist

This is an article about university students who have written software that will allow 1000 laptops to be turned into a super computer.

The software has been posted online, so anyone could in theory assemble their own flash mob at any time.

Since the US has strict controls over computer power that can be sold overseas, I wonder what posting the software on the net means ?

In theory they have just enabled anyone to create super computers that would list in the top500.
