This is the most ridiculous bug I have ever seen, it SHOULDN’T be there, but it is and I need to find a way around it!
Ok basically within my main movie I am displaying my main content in a popup flash window. Each bit of content is a separate .swf, so as a transition to load each .swf in, I have made some “Shutters” for the popup window.
Basically they come from the sides and cover the window and a loading sequence takes place when they are together. After its loaded in they move back the content below is revealed.
I have used a mask layer on the window so that the shutters can ONLY be seen when they are moving over the window.
Each of the shutters has a grey half circle on it, when the shutters are together it forms a full circle.
The problem is this - for some Bull$h1t reason content below the grey circle is visable - as if the circles are not totally opaque.
There is no good reason for this because the alpha of the circles is 100% as are the shutters. Each half circle is ON TOP of the shutters! If I remove the circles it is totally opaque again. If I remove the mask it is totally opaque - but for some reason with the circles it screws up.
Is this just another stupid bug in flash, or am I missing something ?
The only way I can think of round it is to break apart the shutters and cut off what ever is outside of the window frame by frame - obviously this is a BIG hassle.
after running the Maskingprob.swf file when the buttons appear click “about us” and watch the grey circle closely - its ok to press the button more than once to see the problem again.
I am SURE I am not missing anything. I had a similar problem trying to show dynamic text through a mask and had a lot of problems with flash in general.
When I drag out shapes/lines in Flash I can’t see what I’ve dragged, every single time I have to resize, and no, it is ** NOT A CRACKED** version.
There is also a close up pic in the file which shows what I see on my computer. On a dark computer it doesn’t seem visable.
I would be really greatful if someone figures out this masking problem.
** PS. You need to publish both the .fla files as .swfs to get it to work properly. **
yeah don’t worry about that, I was pissing about trying to fix the problem that apparently doesn’t exist… I backed it up so just republished and uploaded.
