Flex Component Kit

I’m having a hard time export a movie clip symbol to a swc for use in a Flex project. It seems pretty straight forward but I can’t seem to get it to work.

I’m using Flash CS4 and I’ve installed the “Flex Component Kit”.

  1. create movieclip
  2. right click on symbol in library and select Properties
  3. Here I asign a custom class to the linkage property: com.ui.myFlexComponent
  4. With the Movie Clip selected I go to Commands > Convert Symbol To Flex Component
  5. Publish

Problem is when I click “Convert Symbol To Flex Component” the linkage property changes to the symbol name. The SWC loads in Flex but it’s not packaging my class with it.

Has anyone had this problem? I’m wondering if I even need the Flex Component Kit in CS4.
