Font embed?@$?

how do i ensure that the fonts within my flash will show up as that font I intended, and not some default font? Is making it a graphic symbol not the way to go to embed the font?

Read this thread, it shows you how to embed fonts.

thanks. so am i understanding this correctly that for static text i don’t need to embed it? I have a button that has text on the over frame, and it appears differently on every PC… would the character key/embed apply?

If the text changed then obviously the text box was set to dynamic in the properties panel so you would have to embed the font so it would look the same on other comps that doesn’t have that font.

If you switch the text box to static then you no longer need to embed the font, but chances are it might make the font look blurry depending on which font you used.

But if you embed a font when its dynamic, it will blur it anyway, so it will look the same as it would in Static.

Kind of sucks, but thats how it works unless you have a font where Flash recognizes its outlines and doesn’t need to anti-alias it.

thanks for the help. i got it.

lostinbeta, what do you mean a font that flash recognizes its outlines? are there specific fonts that flash recognizes? and if so which ones, or where can i find flash specific fonts???

Well by recognizing the font outline (common statement for it) I meant that the font must be on exact pixels otherwise Flash will automatically anti-alias it if you embed the font outline and it is a “weird” font.

Usually pixel fonts don’t blur with this if they are made for flash as they lie on exact pixels… things like…
