You allways win. With hacking skills
I usually take 25% cash up front or check. The rest will be paid upon my delivery of the work.
Also you should always have some kind of contract or agreement signed by your client no matter how big or small the project is. Having a contract will cut the BS and keep the project proceeding smoothly.
You should always set up a meeting with your client and talk about the 2 issues above.
Define policies as to how you will handle this stuff always and then let the client know upon your first meeting. Get a contract layed out and sign it before any work has been done. Also, I take between 25-33% of the funds upfront and won’t start work until payment has been delivered. Then at about half way point I will take another portion of my payment and then finally when the project is complete I will get the rest of the money.
To take payment, company checks work fine or paypal. Just remember they are going to write that off so you better declare it as income.
