Friends of Ed shut down

Well, that’s what Bit just said. It sucks :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

Woah… Anybody know why?

I figured they’d be selling really well?

Hmm… I have one of their books and it’s top notch research.

that´s sad… and weird too.

i thought they’d be selling well too.
i have one of theyr books too, the Fmx designer´s AS reference.

any particular reason?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

:frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

This is a sad day in the world of Flash :*(

Are you guys sure that’s true?
I have foundation AS for MX… and I wanted to get more of their books after I finished this one.

I don’t want them to go away:(

Well Bit is part of Friends of Ed, so he would know more than any of us

But… but… but…

but…

What if I donate all 500 of my posts to them? Do you think then they might stay open? I bet that would help… yeah…

Lost, Pom…How about we start our own book and call it “Friends of EG”? :sigh:

LOL!!! That sounds Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat! :geek:

or friends of EDwin har har

Thats terrible. The put out some really great stuff…

thats pretty sad eh… see what it says on their site…

keep designing,
keep flashing,
keep photoshoping,
keep doing whatever it is you do.
remember what we believed in: designer to designer.
it’s been swell,
you’ve been a great audience.

over…and out…

It seems some boards are being liquidated as well, Wrox Press being one of 'em.

I just found this at:

I’m not sure how accurate it is, but check it out…

Dead - Writers lose again
These emails that current authors got says it all:

Dear all

Please note that Peer Information, our parent company, has just been
declared officially insolvent (bankrupt). This means that all current book
projects end immediately and there will be no more friends of ED books. All
of us that worked here are now unemployed. Please accept my apologies for
the sudden announcement, but it came as a bolt out of the blue to all of us
here - we knew the company had been in trouble but had been led to believe
it would be able to pull through, this turned out not to be the case.

Many thanks, you’ve all been a joy to work with…

All the best,

Chris Matterface
ex-Author Agent, friends of ED

::::: AnOraK :::::

nooo! i have one book, but i need to get another, i am going to go out to the store and buy as much as i can…and you never know…one day it might be back…just maybe…

man, their writing is excellent!

i love their books…hope this isn’t true

hopefully they can figure something out and continue somehow

Yeah, it is quite unfortunate. I heard about this from SWFNews a week or so ago (I was linked to it by a friend). I thought it was just a joke, but I never thought it would actually happen :frowning:

don’t worry, it’s been a year since Macromedia has changed the version enough to need new books for a while… I hope…

But then again, since I have just begun to get a grip on MX syntax, they will prob come out with a new version…
