Text in Buttons

Howdi :o

I’ve made a symbol (button) and want to put text inside it. I tried double clicking then adding a text box but when I play it and roll my mouse over the finger on the mouse changes to the text icon because it senses the text box and can’t be clicked unless I click the edge of the button.

Hope that makes sense and you can help me out.

you are adding the text to th mc button and therefore it reacts along with the button.
There are several ways to fix it. I would consider putting the text in a higher layer…

dont make the text selectable or editable (make it static) and the text cursor wont appear

Not sure how I do that, but the text was set to ‘dynamic’ and I was told to change it to ‘static’ which fixed the problem.

I have exact the same problem.

There is a example but no explanation.

Can some one please tell how to solve this problem?

What is your problem exactly? If it’s the same problem as gneville16 then Senocular already stated the solution.

Hi mate, once you’ve made the text box change its properties at the bottom left of the page so the text is set to STATIC instead of Dynamic or any other option. This should solve the problem, at least it did for my anyway,

just highlight text and button and hit ctrl+b twice

then hit F8 and choose button

tada
