FTP details

Hey there, I have FTP details that the client assures me is correct, but I can still not access the remote server??

I keep getting this error ‘Blocking Call Cancelled’

Does anyone know what this means -I have never seen this before?

Any help much appreciated…

cheers

can’t say i’ve ever had this problem myself

A few thoughts…

Try changing the Passive Transfer checkbox on the advanced tab of the connection. If it’s checked, uncheck it and vice versa.

If you are using the Microsoft TCP/IP stack, part of the Windows 95 and NT operating systems, try setting the Maximum Transfer Unit (MTU) to 576.

If you are using a software firewall; try shutting it down and see if you get the same error.

The only other thing I can say is that the problem is at your end not the server.

HTH,

Carlitio.

from what i’ve read your right if your confused about what Carlito advised check the links i posted

hey there Digitalosophy, thanks for that, I did try the passive FTP transfers but it made no difference, I have tried to contact the programmer who previously dealt with the website but I can’t chat with him until Friday, so fingers crossed.

Thanks for your help guys

No problem Jain, hope you work it out.

Why do I get error “blocking call cancelled” with FTP?

This can happen when you are behind a firewall or are running a personal firewall like Black Ice Defender or ZoneAlarm.

To fix this, go into your FTP program settings and find the setting for “Passive Mode” or “PASV Mode”. If it is turned on, turn it off. If it is off, turn it on.
