GitHub updates developer policy and transparency data

GitHub’s laying out policy changes around intermediary liability and copyright, and they’ve updated the Transparency Center with the full 2025 data so developers can see what changed and what’s coming next.

Ellen :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

“Full 2025 data” is the part I’m actually curious about — did they break out how many takedowns were DMCA vs. “other legal requests, ” or is it still kind of lumped together?

Yeah, that “full 2025 data” phrasing is doing a lot of work — GitHub’s transparency stuff has historically been decent on DMCA, but the “other legal” bucket tends to stay pretty aggregated. If they don’t split by request type/jurisdiction (and outcome), it’s hard to tell whether anything meaningfully changed.
