I’ve ordered a little point and shoot for when I don’t want to use my SLR. I wanted something that I could easily fit in my pocket. It’ll be largely for people, some landscapes and occasionally macros. I could care less about zoom. I debated getting the A710IS, but decided I didn’t care about Image Stabalization and would prefer the higher megapixels and swivel LCD of the A640 after checking out some sample pictures from both of them.

10 Megapixels, 4x optical zoom, swivel LCD for crazy angles (over a crowd you’re in, of yourself, etc…) so it should do the trick.
