Yeah Spam happens a lot here. We are a very social group.
And ironically, spambots love the board too as Rev posted. We once saw a spam bot scanning this board for like a week straight (or more)!!!
How can you tell when a spambot is here or scanning the forum Lost?
Every thread gets Hijacked right!! That’s the law of forums
there has to be a way to find out that there is a bot on here. through java and then kirupa could kick them out for good

It spends like an hour in a thread before moving on to another one and spending an hour in there…lol.
It comes in as guest and just goes through threads, and it sometimes says e-mailing member, and stuff like that.
Kirupa tried to ban the IPs (there were two doing the same thing), I don’t think it worked though.
So it’s actually a person that goes through each thread? I’m clueless here. :-\

No, it isn’t a person, it is a bot. Like a program that runs from a computer that searches for e-mail addresses. Much like the spiders that search engines use to find sites.
