Hi everyone… long time no post! I read most of the posts… but never respond. :asian:
Anyways!
I really need some help. My friend got a free laptop from work (IBM Thinkpad, P2 … 455mhz i think) and I just formatted and put windows xp on it.
Now, im 99.9% sure there is ethernet on it, because there is a port for it, and I can stick my own ethernet cable into it, no problem. But when I try to connect to the internet, my DSL modem isnt getting any contact to the laptop… there are 4 lights on my modem… 1 for power, the other one for ADSL one for the pc (which isnt on, but is on when I connect to my main pc) and a couple of others.
Now, the ethernet port isnt showing up in my hardware profiles thing… but there is a card that is… it’s called “FE574B-3Com 10/100 LAN PCCard Fast-Ethernet”. Now, I don’t have a wireless network in my house… but I tried installing NetStumbler … and it said that there was no wireless card… but I can pull it out and see it… unless that’s not a wireless card?
So does anyone know the issue? The ethernet port is there… but it’s not showing up… and the wireless card is there (at least I think it is?) but it’s not getting recognized.
Any help would be great!
The only thing I can think of for the card, is because it’s for a LAN inside the company…?
