Help, I am majorly panicking

The sound in my .swf file sounds like this http://astro-galaxy.hypermart.net/hh1.html when it is supposed to sound like this http://astro-galaxy.hypermart.net/welcomewithspook.wav . What I am saying is that when I add the sound to my flash file it sounds very distorted. You can’t even hear the creepy, “Welcome” clearly. I followed this tutorial http://www.kirupa.com/developer/addsound.asp and the distorted sound was the result. What can I do to make the added sound exactly like the original?

Thanks to all who reply!

make sure you are publishing the sounds as RAW…

Uhhh…RAW?

double click the wav in your library, this window should come up:

set your settings as in the gif, it will be a larger file size, but the sound should be the same…

That kinda scurred the panties off me LOL

I don’t know about everyone else but I tend to stay well away from wav files. If you can’t find it in MP3 and you must use the sound then I would use the wav but other than that they are just too distorted or too big to use. Just my thoughts though:)

It still sounds terrible…:(…I don’t know what I am doing wrong. Is the specifications under the date and time supposed to be the same cause mine says 5 kHz Mono 8 bit 8.2 s 45.3 Kb. I know the last part is the size of my file so that won’t be the same as yours, obviously.

up the sample rate… notice mine was set @ 44khz, stereo…

you should be able to pick from the drop-down menu…

And that is what I did. I followed your screen capture exactly but it still doesn’t work. I am sure there is something missing that I am not doing right. This is what I have:

If it says what you said in blue, then you haven’t got the settings correct. Also, hit f1, read what it says about the sound properties. If you aren’t using a .wav to start with, you could have problems there.

Without a .fla, it is difficult to know exactly what the prob is…

Maybe you can see what I am doing wrong.

the wav imported is very poor, do you have the original file?

if so, attach…

Rev:elderly:

sorry, saw the file in your earlier post…

this is what I came up with…

See if this is what you want…

Rev:elderly:

It’s perfect! Now would you mind telling me how you managed to do that?? What was I missing in the original file I sent you other than the stop(); function you put on a separate layer?

I just deleted the wav you had imported from the library, then imported the wav you had listed in the first post again.

Sometimes you just have to “trash it and try again” :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh, and the stop was just for my benefit, I was going to remove it, sorry about that

Rev:elderly:

I am sorry to be such a pain but I have tried deleting it from the original file that I still have on my computer and then reimporting it but it still sounds terrible. Are you sure that is all you did or was there something you set in the Sound panel under Effect or Sync? Just a thought…when I create a new layer for the sound I added a keyframe of where I wanted the sound to start. That is what I am supposed to do, right?

Yup… all I did was:

 1. delete from frame
 2. delete from library
 3. download from link above
 4. import
 5. place on frame
 6. save
 7. attach

Really, that is all I did…

maybe my initial sound settings were higher, but that is all it could be…

It looked exactly like yours…

Sorry I don’t have an epiphany to give you… :*(
