Help makeing good tile patterns

I have seen tutorials on useing both title makers in PS and image ready and the offset filter but there has to be a cleaner fool proof method. Cause if you sit and clone or brush just one edge ya have to offset again and again… There has to be some sort of better way too do this cleaner. Or better yet a good plug in that draws onto the other edge if you cross the line…
