Help please

I’m new to flash and I got a question.

How do I make the text I’ve written in my flash into a link to an outside source. I’ve allready know what to put as the actions, it’s just that when I view my flash, it treats the text as text and not as a button. Again I’m new, so any help would help, thanks.

Try this:
First, create your text in flash.
Then select it and press F8 (convert to symbol) and choose button.
Then, double click on the text/button so you are in the edit state.
(this is where the timeline is replaced with ‘Over,Down and Hit’ states.
On the hit state, insert a keyframe (F6) and draw out a rectangular box that would cover the area of the text. (this is going to be the ‘hot-spot’ for the button)— Dont worry about color or stroke, the viewer never sees the content in the “hit” state.—It’s just to make our lives easier when creating buttons.
Then, go back to the main timeline, select the button and press F9 or pull up the actions window.
Then, (you probably know this) choose on(release) {getURL…} and all that jazz. Hopefully, that will help you.
Remember to utilize the HIT state when making text buttons. Otherwise, only the letters will be active as a button, and not the space in between.
Cheers!

Thanks!
I figured with all the help I got from this forum, the least I could do is pay it forward.:chinaman:
