Help with BIOS and Motherboard

Hey dudes, got some probs with my new g-card.

Most of you know I got hold of a nVidia GeForce 7950GX2 card, the 1gb dual-core one.

Now, it needed a new power supply. No problem, I bought a 600W and installed it easily, works fine.

The card came later in the day, but I coulden’t install it. By just putting the card in (I have the right slots etc…) the comp woulden’t bootit says:

‘DMA-1 error
fatal error…system halted’

Had a look in the manual, it says you might need to update your BIOS to support the card. So I look on the nVidia website and my mobo needs BIOS 1103 installed. I have 0305 installed on my mobo. No prolem, i’l just update it, right?

So I get hold of the 1103 BIOS, make a floppy and reboot to update. It reads the floppy, reads the file and then says:

‘The ROMID is not compatible with the existing BIOS ROMID’

WTF!!? Whatever I try, I can’t get the ■■■■ BIOS to flash…I even took it to a computer shop and they coulden’t get it working…

This is sooo annoying, why the hell won’t it flash!

Apparently re-installing Windows on a different HD wilst the graphics card is plugged in…would this work?

The dude in the shop said I might need a new mobo, if so, can anyone suggest a CHEAP and good board that will be compatible with my new card and the other stuff I have plugged into it (and one that will fit in my case, how do I find one that will fit?).

My current mobo is an ASUS P5LD2
