Help with Photography/Camera

Ok, so this thread only really applies to people who know a bit about photography, as I have a camera that I need help with.

I have this old Olympus OM 20 that iv had for years (passed down from my dad I think), still in perfect working condition, but I don’t fully know how to use it. It’s not digital (regular film, not APS) and i’m not sure if it’s SLR, I don’t think it is.

This is the camera i’m talking about, I think it’s got a 50mm lens (at least that’s what it says on it).

Ok so near the front of the lens, theres a clicker thing (see above) that moves round, and has numbers on it - 16, 11, 8, 5.6, 4, 2.8 and 1.8. I have come to the conclusion that it controlls the shutter inside the lens (theres a little button the lens that closes it). How do you use this?

Theres a click wheel thingy (see above) that has AUTO, OFF, MANUAL or B. Now I figured that AUTO is automatic light reading, when you turn it to AUTO, you can see numbers light up on the left hand side when you look through the viewfinder. I don’t know what MANUAL and B are, or how to use them (I assume MANUAL is manual light reading or something?)

Ok so I have no idea what ASA means, when you click it round (either way) a little +/- icon shows up when you look through the viewfinder…

Also, if you look on the left hand side of the ASA wheel, theres a little window that has some numbers inside it, you can click the ASA wheel around by lifting it up to numbers 25 - 1600. Is this the ISO speed? If so, what are good ISO speeds to use in different locations?

Right at the back of the camera (just under the Olympus text/logo thing) theres another moveable wheel thing which has numbers on it - 1, 2, 4, 8, 15, 30, 60, 125, 250, 500, 1000. What are these for? I don’t have a clue…

Sorry for the blurry pics, my digital cam goes really crappy when you do anything close up…

Any help would be greatly appreciated :thumb:
