Ok, so Im not really a designer. I MIGHT get lucky every now and then but I basically have no design skills. However, at work, suddenly I’m needing to play designer and design all these sites and interfaces and whatnot.
So, my question to you is, what do you think would be a good “crash course” lesson for a developer who needs to be a designer - or, from your own experience, what do you think would be helpful for a developer who needs to be a designer too but really has no (or little) design experience?
Technical solutions are certainly helpful (being that I have a technical mindset). And I’ve made the rounds of “inspiring” sites to see what a lot of other people are doing. Still, imitation doesn’t make a good designer, just a good theif. I’m hoping to try to escape my programming state of mind and be able to dip into where my creativity should exist (if there is any left up there).
Any thoughts are appreciated.
