How to avoid avoid buttons when movieclip is loaded over them

Kinda hard to explain…
Say I have some buttons on a level 3 movie, then I click on one of those buttons, it loads an external movie on level 4. When the level 4 movie is ontop of the level 3 movie, level 3’s buttons still work even though they aren’t visible. How do I stop this???

Here’s an example:

when entering, go to Fast(broadband), skip the intro, click Staff and Services link, and you will see that the buttons are still there even though they are not visible. If you float the mouse a bit above the big word STAFF, you will see the cursor turn into a finger and the button will work.

How can I avoid this problem? I’ve had various situations where I like to load movie clips ontop of others, but the buttons still working annoys me.

Thanks! But hmmm…this is really confusing me :frowning:
I have a “secret” button that loads a movie onto level 10. The rest of the buttons load into the “content” layer. I can’t seem to disable the other buttons…
Where do I paste that first chunk of actionscript? Sorry, I’m kind of lost here.

on the one that you load put

onLoad = function () {
_root.loaded = true;
}

then on the frame put

onEnterFrame = function() {
if(_root.loaded == true) {
_root.button1._enabled = false;
_root.button2._enabled = false;
}
}

****…this one is giving me problems :frowning: Would it be too much to ask for a simple .fla attachment? I’m far better at decyphering code by looking at a working version. Or perhaps you know a link with a tutorial and included fla file?

Hey, you don’t know how to make an xml based dynamic text file editable from within a browser do you? This way, the client can easily edit the text content without dealing with ftp, notepad, etc.
(I know that’s a shot in the dark)
