Okay, so the title is a tad pretentious.
I got to thinking awhile ago about how I go about doing things in Photoshop. I’ve found that I spend far more time browsing Photoshop tutorials for fun than I do when I actually need to figure something out. I’ve been using Photoshop for so long that I seem to spend less time developing my own techniques than I do trying to learn somebody else’s.
So enough with the “I’m almighty Photoshop man”. I was thinking that as I develop these techniques, it might be nice to share them with the world, as they produce very nice effects… for example:

This page was completely generated in Photoshop (no Google image stealing), using a plethora of techniques, from inking to tones to the clouds, rain, stars, and moon in the background, that I invented upon creating this page.
What I’m basically trying to say is that over the next month or so, I’ll be posting a series of “lessons” on how you can learn to do this yourself. The goal is to free you from needing to look up tutorials and walkthroughs and give you the ability to create instead of copy.
However, you should be aware that these will be advanced tutorials. I expect the reader to be able to grasp when I say “Pen Tool” that I don’t mean your tablet pen. Generally, though, whatever I refer to can be found in the help files, so if you get lost you can find it fairly easily in case you’re not a veteran Photoshop user. I also won’t be referring to any outside tutorials (since the point is to free your mind!.. cough shameless Matrix plug cough).
That all said, I hope you’ll learn something from it and we’ll see how helpful it actually turns out to be. Look for the first lesson sometime this week.
