Which is the best device that can benefit me for the connection on the internet using those two(hubs or Switch) because I have a three PCs here and I just want to know which has a high standards or qualities based on connectin speed/bandwith and especially the most important of all is at the same time the connections are much the same thats why I really want to know which is the best thing to choose? (hub or Swtich)
out of hub and switch, you would want a switch - so you could each access the internet on your own without relying on a proxy server running on one machine(which you would need if you ran a hub)
now in your case you will want, what is called a “router”
a router is very similar to a switch only more for home use (the easy way to say it)
so what you would have would be
cable in wall to Broadband modem
broadband modem using ethernet cable to router
cables from router to destination PCs
and your router and modem should come with maps and illustrations…
You don’t need a router to make it work you can use a hub or a switch. But I would recommend using a switch because switches are far more intelligent thane hubs and can process packets better. A hub just send packets out all the ports to every computer while a switch only sends packets to what computer it is being sent to. Resulting in less packet collisions they’re for less lag. But for the best results go for a router you will get the perks of a switch but with a firewall and NAT.
if you use a hub you have to setup a proxy server on one of the computers, because the modem pulls a DHCP (automatically assigned IP) from the ISP and you can’t have 4 computers on a hub pulling that at the same time.
switches are more intelligent than routers, switches are basically just an advanced router for a lot more $
