Insurance of any sort doesn’t make much sense untill you need it. For example, I have had health insurance since I can rememeber. I never use it, but if I fell down a flight of stairs and broke my leg I would not have to worry about the bills. I think car insurance is the same way., except I have had to use that. When my car got broken into, they payed for my window to be replaced, and for the stolen contents of my car. I have been hit 3 times, none of which were my fault. (First time I was stopped at a stop sign, person behind me decided not to stop. Second time I was stopped in a left turn lane, same deal. Third time my car was parked outside my house. Go figure) Point being that the car insurance took care of the repairs each time. Trust me if something happens and you smash into somebody and cause thousands of dollars of damage to someones car, you will be glad that you have insurance to cover it.
I will admit the pricing can be steep. I was getting royally ripped off by my insurance company when I was 18ish. So I decided that was crap, and did a lot of research. I cut my costs by more than half. Nothing changed about my driving record, my age, my car, etc. I just got smart and decided that I would not let them rip me off anymore.
This is the information age, be an educated consumer, do a little research, get a bunch of quotes, take a look at the different discounts offered. See if your car has a surcharge at one company and not another. Seems silly but that happened to me.
Insurance is the one thing I will always have, and hope to never use. =)
Cheers!
