I swear to god mediatemple sucks

I really hate them… they’ve been down so much… I’m switching to another service today…:m:

kirupaforum.com and kirupa.com have been down a long while today too …

…because media temple hosts them
same with were here (among others)

I know. So it was a global ‘down’ ? Not only your site.

yeah, that maybe so but they were nice enough to host kirupa for free so :-\ but sen is right there…

seriously, I’m sick of that crap. I pay too much for my hosting, and I’m going to write them a nice little email detailing how much they suck. I went with them for reliability, and they’re not. The place where I used to work has iPowerWeb, and they have never been down, they get more space, and more bandwith.

Really ? iPowerWeb was that really cheap one right ?

yeah, it’s cheap, but only if you buy it for two years. a 194 dollar bill comes out to something like 7 dollars a month or something

You might also check out CIHost. Prices are very reasonable. I have a dedicated server with them and have been extremely impressed not only by uptime, but the quality of tech. support.

hth!

nah i would go dr2 they are the best of thhe best! 40 a year!

yeah, 28 keeps telling me about dr2… hmm…

The problem right now is I think MT has been affected by all the recent viruses that have wormed their way.

Do you pay $14.95 a month or do you get free hosting from them?

me or kirupa? I pay 18 a month…

Yeah you. Man, you are some rich migee! :thumb:

those things have been a pain… they affected my web server, and then my home machine (with Mcafee, Norton, and Zone Alarm in place). I ended up taking Jubba’s advice and installing AVG, which caught 22 more than Norton (Corp version)… so Jubba was right…

…again…

Rev

yeah - I am planning on disabling my kirupa@kirupa.com e-mail account because in the past 2 hours, I have received over 1000 e-mails with nothing but the PIF or SCR attachments. That’s over 80MB of data that MT must transfer…imagine how much sites like ultrashock or k10k must receive from their servers.

EDIT: Well, MT is disabling all attachments that end in PIF, so hopefully that should stop the slowdowns and crashes the servers have been experiencing.

ouch kman. that sucks! i hope my e-mail doesnt get flooded cause i cant afford taht happening :frowning:

What are those PIF and SCR files? I also get them. Are they viruses?

yeah, once affected it simply sends itself out to others.
