I am so excited!!! We just booked our trip with another couple in June; My friend’s family owns a home in Limerick I think it is called and we are going to travel up the west coast. Has anyone ever been there? If so any suggestions on where to travel? I hear it is absolutely beautiful; Please let me know. :pleased: :pleased: :pleased:
hmmm cool…go check out the blarney castle, if u r going to southern ireland. it was built in 1446. err dont ask me how it is, coz i’ve never been there…just googled for the places where u can possibly go ;)…more list coming up
if nothing else helps just check the link out for recommended attractions
I spent 2 weeks in Ireland and all I can say is that Dublin was by far the best time there. There are a lot of neat little towns etc. along the coast that we stayed at about every other day as we traveled but Dublin had the most to do. So it all depends on what you are looking for. If you want to experience the history and culture, go to places like Dingle and such…if you want to get shot, go to Northern Ireland and if you are looking to have a great time go to Dublin. We were also there during the last world cup so that was intense as well. Take tons of pictures and try and spend at least 2 days in each location, because you will be surprised at how fast the time goes. Oh, and don’t get any type of pepsi/coke product over there, they taste terrible…if anything just get a plain coke, but make sure you get it with lemon and always ask for ice, because in most places they won’t give it to you. Oh, and breakfast is usually terrible, unless you stay in a hotel that is known worldwide…(like a normal chain hotel)…
If you get a chance, and have the money…spend a night in a castle that was made into a hotel, that is quite the experience. It’s costly, but they have some really neat castle’s there in Ireland.
Oh, and keep a journal of everything that you do…pictures don’t always tell a complete story.
Oh and about Blarney castle, make sure you go around the grounds of the castle and see where the old king used to keep his “witch” and where they say fairies used to frolic in the gardens etc. It’s very kewl if you are into the fantasy story type thing…makes you feel like you could def. shoot a fantasy/adventure movie just right there outside the castle…make sure to kiss the blarney stone…but remember Irish luck is bad luck…
That’s about it! Enjoy your trip! :thumb:
Boon out.
I take offence to that. Only Norn Ironers are allowed to make fun of ourselves. And there is no more violence in Northern Ireland than anywhere else in the world. Also, Coke tastes far too sweet in America and Canada and nothing beats an Irish breakfast.
Getting back to the topic though, Leitrim and Fermanagh are two very beautiful counties of Ireland, albeit rather wet ones. They have some of the most spectacular scenery I have ever seen. I would highly recommend hiring a cruiser (big boat) and traveling along some of the many waterways around the area for a few days. It’s a really great way to see the real Ireland.
I’ll try to think of some more places to visit.
Thanks guy; Paddy I have heard that Northern Ireland is also beautiful, that the Giant Causeway is spectacular, My friend that I am going with ( She is Irish, her parents came from there) was talking about going to Mayo and Kerry and she said that we have to stop at the Cliffs of More??? She always goes there and said it is beautiful. I am into fantasy genre and the Blarney Castle is definately a place we all want to go to.
Thanks for the tips and keep them coming :flower:
Nice Enjoy!
:cap: THANKS!!!

Oh blah blah, I was only kidding, I’m Irish too, just not from there … my grandparents are from Ireland though. And yes, the Northern part of Ireland is great! Very beautiful and has a lot to see. (it’s not dangerous but I didn’t think you would actually take me seriously to begin with)
But I’m not kidding about the coke/pepsi tasting awful.
So I apologize if I did actually offend…sorry.
Have fun on your trip and possibly post pics when you get back! :thumb:
I am very excited; The farthest east I have been is Cape Cod and Long Island. I will avoid the soda and just stick to the Guinness:thumb2:
Slainte!
Hey my wife and I are considering a trip to Ireland maybe in the Summer. Not to sound weird or anything, but how is the treatment of black folks there? I would imagine that I would stick out like a sore thumb. Or that could just be my miserable mis-conception based on the news and stuff I hear from over there,.
wow sounds exciting
hope you enjoy very well there :thumb: and yeah post pics
The person I am going with told me that there are many different races and ethnic groups because Ireland takes in refugees from other countries and many Europeans go there to work since the economy is booming; I don’t think you would stick out like a sore thumb but I could ask her more
10 years ago maybe DDD, but you’ll be grand man, there are more foreigners running around Belfast and Dublin these days than natives.
Don’t believe the hype.
I will definately post some pics=) =) =) =)
