So the Trump administration is having OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic come in to help shape the AI oversight framework. On one hand, they actually know how their systems work and what the real constraints are. On the other hand, they’re also the ones who benefit most from loose regulation.

This is way outside my lane so take it with a grain of salt, but the teacher analogy is funny to me because I’ve actually seen a version of this in miniature. Ex-teachers writing ed-tech curriculum tend to build tools that make their own old job easier, not necessarily what a room full of different teachers actually need. Not the same stakes obviously, but the “the expert isn’t neutral just because they’re an expert” thing tracks with what I saw building that lesson-planning tool years ago.
