IPod does not mount on 98SE

today one of my friends had a problem with his ipod.

  1. The IPod working properly previously before he reformated his 98SE.
  2. His working with EphPhod which is a software for the 98SE, since i-tunes don’t work with 98SE, and a ti firewire port.
  3. He formatted his drive.
  4. He reinstalled the driver for the firewire port. It does Charge but doesn’t transmit or recieve data.
  5. He tried the ipod on his friend’s computer(running XP), and it worked just fine(firewire). that means it’s not the ipod thats creating the problem!
  6. He even opened his computer to check on the firewire port to see if it wasn’t pluged in properly.
  7. According to the device manager the firewire appears to be working properly. :h:
