First of all, this might need to go in Computers and Games, but I don’t know. A mod, I’m sure, will adjust accordingly.
The problem is such: I need to know how many amps an iPod battery can take before being damaged. As in, what is the highest safe number of amps to put in?
I tried calling Apple tech support, but naturally they had no idea and refered me back to the website. The only information on the website pertains to the iPod 2G, and I am only interested in the 3rd and 4th G, as I believe they use the same battery.
The little white iPod wall charger has 12 volts and 1 amp printed on it as the output, but I know the wall’s output varies. I’ve tested the voltage out of the wall (not the current though, as I don’t want to cut my firewire cable in half), and is generally slightly below 12 volts, although sometimes slightly above.
Grr. Apple has impressed me often, but I am disappointed at the lack of technical information available
