I was thinking of really getting to know a server-side scripting language well, for big sites - mostly OOP. I know the basics of OOP in php, but I guess it doesn’t cut it. I immediately thought of PHP. But it doesn’t seem like PHP 5 is all that promising.
Sure, PHP is installed on almost every Apache server in the world, but is it actually… good? There’s a reason why many sites use ASP, or CFM. And now the whole Ruby on Rails thing came out, it looks pretty cool too. Any thoughts?
