Is this outglow effect?

http://www.halocraft.com/
on that site, left and right side borders are blurr lines…
how can i get that effect?

Yes, it could possibly be a black outerglow layer filter with a Gaussian Blur applied to the graphics.

The opacity of the black outer glow was probably turned down a bit too.

thanx electrongeek how can i make that effect as a border? make a rectangle and apply it?

The way how that site setup, he probably used image ready to slice up a big image and knocked out the middle section for his content and left the border graphics alone. Everything is held together in a table format, if you take a look at the source code you’ll see what I’m talking about.

So just start out with a big image and apply the effect, you can knock out whatever sections you want to use for content if you want and slice it up in Image Ready.

alrite i will try that thanx electrongeek

what im gonna do is divide my index into 3 columns and in the middle is gonna be my flash about 800x650 and i want to have the blurr borders… in this case i need to have 5 columns of table set up correct?

Yup that sounds right. 3 columns so you’ll need 5 of those blur strips. Good luck. =)

i tried but i can’t get the right glow… errr and on the same site… the main screen with a pic of sky… is that little border box with outer glow effect too?

That box around the sky looks like it has a inner glow instead of a outer glow and you can’t expect to get the same exact results as this guy’s page cause I’m sure he experimented a few times to get it right too.

but no gradient tool?

these days whenver i see something cool i wanna learn

No offense to the creator of that site you posted… But he is a total rip off of halovision (who is another one of my favorite designers).

http://www.halovision.org

[edit] Just noticed he is affiliated with shadowness.com , but his site is still a blatant copy of style, which is sad for someone who is part of a site like shadowness.[/edit]

lol it looks so much like one of Christopher’s work that I thought he made it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Its not as good quality though. Shadowness and Chris are now partners, so I guess he felt he had the right to steal his style or something. Almost a complete copy of name too.

ya lost… when i first viewed this site i thought it was chris’ another porfolio site… cause i thought it was lil similar to hv.exhavition but then i realized it was someone elses i didnt really bother to report it or anything since they are both in shadowness… but i think chris’ work are lot better than “halo.craft”

good to hear it from you again lost  I came to learn more

Glad to have you back.

To me, that effect around the edges simply looks like he took the square tool, draw the box around his area, then rasterized the layer, and hit CTRL+click on the square layer and went to Select/Modify/Contract by say 20 pixels, then deleted the inside of the square. He then went to Filter/Blur/Guassian blur and pulled one of those… then set that layer blend mode to “Overlay” and/or dropped the opacity.

I didn’t test it, but it looks like that to me :-\

thanx lost I will give it a try

about that glow effect. Try and making a single line with the single column marquee tool then make it a gray, Then add a little gassian blur. Experiment with the layers to get a cut off of the glow.
