Java Programming in my school!

My teacher was thinking of a Java Programming Hour(s) for these who like it ! Becouse He is good in Java and He whant to learn us for free !
He asked me for a Flash MX Hour(s) but O God no Im new ! Im learning so I canot do it ! But he added the Java Programming Hour(s) learning Java ! I think its from 1 to 2 hours ! but Shall i go for it and learn Java !
he said its cooler than Actionscript or something but I disagree ! LOL !
He also said that Java is close to Actionscript ! HUH ! is that right or wronge ?
Well I will not give up my Webdesign but if I take Java will I get to learn ActionScript easyer than before !

And the cooler thing is that WE are going to use MAC(ssSSSssS)

Thats a great idea, i wish my teachers were that cool.

just make sure he don’t diss actionscript or you can tell him i will hunt him down and slap him with a herring.

Well both actionscript and Java are object oriented but as far as I know no java is capable of matching the power and visual effects of Flash, although anybody with time could do some nifty work with java…

Action Script is much easier to learn too…

Go for it. JavaScript is very very similar to ActionScript; in fact the two are both based on the ECMA - 262 specification, so if you learn JavaScript, when you come round to learn ActionScript it will be much much easier.

man, youre lucky :slight_smile: I mean, they are learning us Pascal at school, that sux, I’m not saying that learning pascal is a bad thing, but they could learn something more useful nowadays…

I got taught RM BASIC (for anyone old enough to remember that) when I was 14, then Pascal, COBOL and C for my A Levels at 16 - 18. At University I went on to Visual Basic, Java, HTML, JavaScript, Assembly language, C++…

It’s no wonder I get mixed up on my coding sometimes with all that lot going on in my head. :smirk:

I think it’s a good idea to teach that kind of thing though. And the younger you start, the better. :slight_smile:

we had a “terminal” that you typed on, the machine went “tigga tigga tigga” with it’s daisy wheel onto yellow paper on a roll…

Then, in a couple of minutes, the machine would go “tigga tigga tigga” again, and you would read the message on the yellow paper…

Things have sure come a looooong way since I started out. I’ve still got my very first computer - Commodore Amiga 500, the Batman pack!

my first computer was a Tandy 3000 w/1MB HD and a 3 1/2" floppy drive (no 5 1/4" which all of the software was produced in), and a monochrome (green) 13" monitor…

I couldn’t get it to do anything but a few simple things… I sold it after my divorce for $500…

We had a machine at my junior school that took the really huge floppy disks… But now I’m really reaching into the depths of my memory to drag that up. :slight_smile:

JAVA! cool i am going to learn C++ next year. Java is really cool though. i heard that it was just much strick than AS, or thats what Bit-101 said

yup Teuhtall-y different, I dont even know why they share the same prefix…
Java is just a small browser interpreted language which just cant compete with all the other ones…

Java is a good language to learn and relatively pain free. It was the firt OOP language that I ever studied, and found it pretty easy to get to grips with. If you know how Flash works before you start on Java, then I think you’re in with a head start, as you’re already familiar with objects and targetting them.

C++ was the killer. Especially pointers. It’s worth doing, but it’s still very nasty.

I have desided to choos Java programming !

I will learn Java ! But after the “course” are finished thats 1 year LOL 1 year Java is cool ! :stuck_out_tongue:

In my free time I will learn Actionscript !

Thanx to kirupa forum “dudes” they lett me love actionscript and flash mx ! OMG you just dont know what you did to me LOL !

But some of my friends they saw me entering java and they whant to creat a site like mine + my teacher LOL ! he is having hard times doing a site !
He learn me Java I learn him Flash ! after 1 year LOL !

About my English LOL !
Im good in English when I talk !
My teacher says that I talk American English ! And not English “English” LOL
But I dont wright that good English !

I also type very fast thats why I dont get it the right way ! hehehe I like fast thinks ! Like flying ! hehehe
