Latest Microsoft Update Problem

My PC autoinstalls security updates from Microsoft but this month it’s left me with a bit of a problem.

The updates included the notorious KB912812 which, as most of you know, is the one that disables Active-X controls. However it’s causing a problem with my screen hibernation mode. When the hibernation kicks in, I move the mouse and the screen appears like it used to but then it vanishes again in less than half a second. No amount of mouse moving will make it come back. The only solution is to switch the monitor power off at the front and then turn it back on again.

I did a system restore prior to the update being installed and the problem vanished. Of course, Windows then automatically reinstalled the update and the problem came back.

I can’t email Microsoft because my copy of Windows was provided by an OEM and I can’t contact the OEM because they’ve gone out of business.

So does anyone else have this problem? How might I notify Microsoft about it?
