LCD monitor reviews?

hello, i was wondering if anyone has used this monitor for desinging. the reviews on newegg seem to be good but most seem to be designated to gaming. im not really going to game but I am going to design on this. would this be a good designing monitor? thanks in advance.

It’s def. a great monitor … and I prefer CRT for color but LCD are just fine as well … just make sure you always compare the printed piece to screen … if that’s what you are desiging for …

weird…I was about to buy that one yesterday. then realized i have no money. It will definitely be the monitor when I do get one though. I was looking at that one and the 20.1" dell one (2007FP i think). With this one, you get an extra inch, better response and contrast…

Wow, what a sexy monitor, Mike. :smiley:

The specs look really nice krnmikel! Because you won’t be gaming, have you looked into getting a widescreen version instead? Anyhoo, the Dell FP2007 only gets 1680x1050, and a good widescreen can get 1920x1200. For design work, I’m sure the higher resolution will be put to good use :wink:

So, if you do opt to go with the 4:3 aspect ratio monitor, this one is great - it supports 1600x1200, has a low response time, and features great contrast.

C:-)

o thanks for the tips guys =D. kirupa, that dell you suggest has some great resolution. can you link me to a one that you think will fit my requirments? thanks in advance =D.

im also planning to buy a samsung LCD but only the 17". i don’t have that much money. i think the dell monitor is also good. :}

I don’t think there is a Dell monitor that fits your specs perfectly, but I’m on a FP2001 (20", 1600x1200) monitor. While I like it a lot, I am not a designer, so I really don’t know how well the visual quality produced by my current monitor fares with the Samsung you posted :slight_smile:

If I was to still consider buying a new PC soon, I would still choose the Samsung 940 19" (if I can recall correctly). I would prefer Dell but it does costs a considerable amount more.

let me point out to you guys that there is a common manufacturer trick with LCD moniters. Espically those with “10ms” lets not grab any brands out, but LCD is unable to reach anything less than 12ms; If i remember correctly there is a measurement variation either before the moniter or after moniter. Most likely measured before.

I’m using two samsung 940B’s at work and they are pretty great. There are minor issues like a lighter and darker contrast from the top to bottom but thats only a minor thing and only if you really really look closely. I’m still not sold on LCD’s yet and is why i use two crt’s at home. I’m waiting till the current 19’s become much better than they are or the 20’s to 1) be cheaper and 2) be just as good as the 19’s are now.
