LCD monitors and graphics

I would like to hear the opinion of people who mayby worked with graphics on a CRT monitor and then changed to a LCD. And Im talking about normal LCD’s like Sony, Philips, Samsung etc. not Eizo, because they are just not for my budget :/. So are there noticable differances when working with gfx. Are there smudges? Are colors displayed properly?. Is there a monitor that is good enough to do graphics like on a CRT, and play games/movies w/o any LCD’s ‘unwanted’ features, for a reasonable (mid.) price?

Im asking because I’m buying A/V peripherals. For audio I’ve choosen Logitech Z-5500, and I still need a 19’’ monitor. If not a LCD, then I will have to settle for a CRT monitor. You might say that if I want all of these features I should buy a CRT monitor, well yeah but two things bothers me. One is that CRT monitors IMO had been forgotten by the manufactors, and no new technology has been developed in them. And second, they are ugly and bulky as hell.
