Lighting Effect? Possible?

Hey guys and gals,

Just wondering if there is anyway that I could make a lightning (mortar) effect on a 700px by 200px area of my website…kind of in the background…at the brightest part of the flash I want a sound played…

I would like the lightning to be going on simulataneously with everything on the site in the back ground and I would like it to be lighting and fading in several different areas at once.

What I did was divide the area into six not square forms

here is the background image that I am speaking of…I would like mortars flashes to be going off on different parts of the beach/sky line…with a sound effect that I already have…

Should I divide it into 6 sections of non-square solid white shapes and change their alpha, while at the highest alpha setting play a sound? if so is there a way I could have it randomand looping in the background and do i have to make them graphic items to change their alpha?

If anyone could help me out…or steer me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Case

Yeah ill do it for you in PhotoShop be right back

This is as good as i can get it…
Unless Electron geek can use is Powers other than that i hope its good.

I would just use multiple masks in Flash for this. Also, don’t have hard lines to divide the areas, as light has no hard edges. You might be better off using a gradient.

could you go into a little detail on that…since I am very new…I have no clue?

Bulldog…i want it to be a animated lightning and thunder effect
