Effective November 15, 2003, Adobe will no longer distribute LiveMotion 2.0. Though Adobe has decided to concentrate its efforts in other areas, we want to thank our loyal LiveMotion customers for their support. Adobe will maintain person-to-person technical support for LiveMotion until March 31, 2004. In addition, complimentary technical support will be available until further notice via the Adobe Support Knowledgebase and User to User Forums on the Adobe Web site.
Yeah, its been known for a while that they stopped development on Livemotion. Seems sad that they plan to stop distributing it though. Might be nice as cheap legacy software as an alternative to Flash 5.
I never tried livemotion before…Never had the need…was it good? I felt heart broken when MM stop making SiteSpring…MAtter of fact I think I will ask around to see if there is something comparable.
livemotion was a good competitor to Flash 5. It couldnt stand up against MX though (it exported to v5 swfs) and Adobe just didnt keep up with it enough to keep it in the game, which is a shame because it could have done well methinks. Adobe is probably puting more effort into Atmosphere and SVG.
SVG is awesome…DOnt see folks using it much. Atmosphere is weird…I played with the trial for a lil bit. I would love to see svg take off. I did a nice architecture layout for some architects with it.
I cannot remember actually let me see if I can find the file I made. I just remember it was a a strange setup. Must did not have much programming I made it throught the tut ok from my memory. Honestly I dont see it catching on like flash or director which what I think its direct competitor is.
I think it would be hard for any company to keep up with the creators of the player and the file format as they always have the upper hand and probably a 5 year plan on where they want to take it!
