Loading an .swf into a .swf

I have tried loading an external .swf file into an existing movie by placing actions onto a button in order to get it to load. I have created a box the size of the external movie, and saved it as a movie clip and given it an instance name ‘box’. I have then put an on release load movie action onto the button, specifying the swf I want to load and specifying the target as the instance box. It doesn’t work!! This is the first time I have tried something like this and would appreciate any help in thiss matter!!!
