How do you guys design awesomely looking logos? Some people say to use Freehand… but whats the difference in doing it in Photoshop than in freehand? Also, I want to create nice Flash buttons. But everything is sooooo boxy. How can I create good Flash backgrounds and buttons?

when i did mine i used a picture of an elephant, traced the outline of the elephant in freehand, exported the path as eps to ps, then coloured it in ps, as well as added circles, etc.
plus, kept it at big res and 300dpi for printing purposes
freehand is vector, will allow you to create vector logos, which you can play with indefinitely without loosing quality (rotating, resizing)
PS is mainly a raster prog… it has vector tools, and I’d recommend doing your logos with it if you can use freehand/illustrator.
As for flash buttons, I think there are some tuts on kirupacom tutorials, or google for’em
